Black British music is evolving rapidly and only the innovators will survive. Not those with sand in their eyes and a hip hop template based on New York circa 1992. Those who keep moving. And none are moving faster than New Flesh. 'Stick n Move' is a good-natured, stinky-humoured anthem, the missing link between Roots Manuva's 'Witness (1 Hope)' and So Solid's '21 Seconds', a 'dancehall afro-punk' reimagining of George Clinton's funk-universe. Featuring Gamma's Blackitude alongside New Flesh regulars Juice Aleem and Toastie Tailor, there's nothing to deep to digest here - just clever verbals over a cracking beat and a jaw droppingly intense b-line. Over, New Flesh ease back and team up with Ty for 'Do You Undersatand It '' - another instant-classic Part 2 beat twitching and flickering whilst the Awkard one and Juice set a few scores straight on what this hip hop shit is all about. And what's more it's an exclusive. Which brings us to the album. 'Understanding' will drop at the end of January 2002 and is set to take New Flesh into the stratosphere with its mixture of funky-as-fuck beats, great rhyming and guests including Beans (Anti-Pop Consortium), Roots Manuva, Gift of Gab (Blackalicious) and Ramm:Ell:Zee.'
